Myth and Legend

Human History is filled with tales of human-shaped monsters, vile and evil creatures who rampage through History causing all manner of havoc and mayhem, killing, maiming and torturing with impunity leaving a swatch of human misery in their wake.  In ancient writings and current media, these monsters take on many forms such as lycanthropes, trolls, ghouls, gnomes, imps, golems, gremlins, leprechauns, incubi and succubi… 

And Vampires.

So, in light of all the unpleasant myths surrounding Vampires, why would you want to be a Vampire? Is it for the power? Physical formidability? Emotional distance from the human race? Eternal life? Fear of what, if anything, comes after death?

Every being has its own reasons, and the exploration of these may be a theme for another book. For now, let us begin our journey into the real Vampiric world and debunk some of the myths that surround it.

Tales of vampires date all the way back to Adam (note to interested Beings: research – the current term is Google – Lilith, legendary first wife to Adam).  But, thanks to pop culture’s current love affair with our kind, numerous books and TV and movies are – if you will pardon the expression – breathing new life into what heretofore had been a solitary journey through time.

Leave it to the humans to come up with the very concept of Ethical Vampires; good guys who fight their base natures to become purveyors of justice; or at the very least don’t prey on humanity with impunity. (Examples: Angel, TV Series and The Twilight Series in both written and cinematic forms)

Times have changed, so must our approach to feeding and moving about the world, even to the point of adopting this odd Ethical Vampire mythos. The very survival of our kind depends on it.

This book was written to guide you on your journey to in to make an informed decision and will guide you in your quest to find a measure of peace in your Death-Style by showing practical ways to become an ETHICAL Vampire, ways to modify your way of thinking and diet enough to create your own reality. 

Becoming an ethical vampire, in that concept’s many forms, means that you can take charge of your own existence without falling victim to the eternal boredom that so often afflicts our kind.

At least for a while.

Lilith

According to Jewish folklore, Lilith was the first wife of Adam. She was banished from the Garden of Eden when she refused to make herself subservient to Adam (specifically, she refused to get into the missionary position with him during sex). When she was cast out, she was made into a demon figure who then created all other demons, and Adam was given a second wife, Eve, who was fashioned from his rib to ensure her obedience to her man. There are many tales of Lilith, some direct and many obscure references in writings, drawings and carvings that date back thousands of years, that point out humanity’s obsession with a strong female as a corrupt, promiscuous or immoral being.

The truth is probably rather more mundane. Lilith was most likely born or deposited on earth (there are factions who steadfastly believe one or both sides) with inhuman powers already in place. The one thing no Being disputes is that she led the emerging Netherworld Beings who did not hide their existence from mankind into separating from a burgeoning and ever increasingly fearful and violent humanity. It is said that during the beginning times, she acted as Mother to All and wrote the first versions of The Litany for each Creature to help guide them to use the earth and its creatures in harmony and balance.

Lilith is different from all of her children in several ways. She is not affected in any way by the sun and could walk with humans even in the brightest of days and was supernaturally strong in comparison to humanity. She does not appear to be limited in the number of humans she can Turn. It is speculated that this is so because she is pure daemon, and all subsequent beings were once human and therefore halflings, burdened with the limitations of their birth. In the dawn of time, she created quite a few of these halflings, no doubt in part as companions to appease her loneliness. There are none of these first made creatures left walking the earth as Lilith destroyed with ruthless and dispassionate dispatch those who devolved into Revenants or who refused to obey her Litany.

In time, she created the Council Primus to act in her stead as final judge of all Vampires.

As Vampire populations slowly rose throughout the many centuries, Lilith roamed the earth and periodically would appear to the Council Primus to make sure that her edicts were being carried out. However, in 1482 after more than three centuries of absence, she arrived just as the Council Primus was preparing to violently respond to the rise of hysteria involving witch hunts (which also included Vampires) during the early years of the Spanish Inquisition. These hunts fanned fear and suspicion of Beings and humans who did not fit the rigid normative model of human behavior.

Council Primus records indicate that Lilith did not agree that the “witch-hunters” should be themselves hunted and exterminated.  She cautioned that such action would bring too much attention to our race and that Beings should simply vacate the specific areas rife with Inquisitors to safer climes for the duration., which would, as all hysterical human periods do, in due time. The Council were unmoved by Lilith’s arguments and remained firm in their belief that the humans responsible for exterminating Beings should themselves be put to death. It is said that Lilith, upon seeing her own creatures refusing to succumb to her will and, rather than destroying them and leaving a legislative vacuum that would adversely affect all of her children, she abruptly walked from the ancient chambers that house the Council and their staff. There have been no verified sightings since.

Council Primus
